Statement of Faith

  1. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and that loving and enjoying God are the highest duty and greatest privilege of mankind. (John 1:1; Matthew 22:37; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  2. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in full and complete salvation through His blood shed on the cross and His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 16:16; 1 John 4:2; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:16)
  3. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whom we are sealed for the Day of Redemption and by whose indwelling presence we are empowered and gifted to live a Godly life, through obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:13; Hebrews 4:12)
  4. We believe the entire Bible to be inspired, the authoritative Word of God, inerrant in the original text, the all-sufficient standard of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews)
  5. We believe that all people are sinners who must turn from their sins, and that the salvation of the lost is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Sharing this Good News with others is the responsibility of each Christian and the church. (Luke 13:3; 1 John 3:5; Romans)
  6. We believe that believers are to be baptized by immersion as an act of obedience and identification with the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-39; Acts 16:31-33; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25; Acts 22:16)
  7. We believe in the assurance of salvation for the believer. (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 11:29)
  8. We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head. (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1:18; John 3:3-7)
  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.(1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 20:6; John 5:28-29)
  10. We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ the “Blessed Hope”, who has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 18; Titus 2:13-14)
  11. We believe that every local church is autonomous, self-governing its own affairs as it submits to Jesus Christ, who is the head of His body, the church. (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians)
  12. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers, which is nurtured by an unselfish love for one another, and seek agreement on matters of faith but grant liberty in matters of opinion and conscience. (Romans 14:1; Romans 15:5-6; 1 Corinthians 8:1-3)
