Prayer at SBF
"...(We) should always pray and not give up," (Luke 18:1) The Bible teaches us the following important principles about praying: Prayer is commanded "I urge...first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone..." (1 Timothy 2:1)
"Pray continually..." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Prayer follows Jesus' example "Very early in the morning...Jesus...went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." (Mark 1:35)
"Then Jesus looked up and said, 'Father, I thank you that you heard me." (John 11:41)
Prayer is effective "...We...petitioned our God...and he answered our prayer." (Ezra 8:23) "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (James 5:16)
Prayer unites God's people "They all joined together constantly in prayer..." (Acts 1:14) "...The church was earnestly praying to God..." (Acts 12:5)
At SBF we recognize the critical role that prayer plays in our lives and in the success of our ministries/programs. We have established several prayer groups, and encourage everyone to become involved in at least one prayer ministry opportunity offered at Southside. - Detailed Prayer Ministries - Visit our Monthly Prayer Calendar Page
