The primary purpose of the SBF Youth Ministry is to expose teenagers to Jesus and equip them to connect and serve their community in ways that glorify God

Main Objectives

  • To encourage our youth to shine in this world by Evangelizing the lost.
  • To Equip our youth so they can grow and mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • To create a safe environment where our youth can Connect and Serve together.
  • To lead our youth into Worship and Service so they can develop their giftedness.

OVERVIEW

We are looking to hire an exemplary Part-time Youth Director to lead and guide our Church’s middle and high school students. Under the supervision of the lead pastor, the Youth Director will strive to teach our young people the Word of God, Encourage them to Know Jesus Christ, and Support them to develop in their love for God and others so they can grow in their relationships. The Youth Director will lead and attend Youth functions both at Church and elsewhere, intentionally grow relationships with our community, and provide our youth and their families with biblical counseling where necessary.

To be successful in this ministry, the Youth Director will need to provide students with a place to belong that gives them the courage to be different and resilient to unhealthy peer pressure. Ideal candidates must demonstrate a proficient understanding of the challenges young people face and are compassionate to them.

Youth Directors Responsibilities:

  • Attending and participating in Pastoral staff meetings.
  • Overseeing, growing, and coordinating SBF Youth Ministry.
  • Designing, overseeing, and examining curriculum for all youth programs, events, and classes.
  • Leading middle and high school students to encourage their spiritual growth.
  • Interacting with our youth during Sunday services.
  • Developing positive relationships with students and their parents.
  • Sharing program plans through social media.
  • Displaying a Christ-like approach and lifestyle and praying regularly for the youth in the Church and community.
  • Incorporating youth into various church ministries for the Lord’s use.
  • Encourage growth in students who are interested in the knowledge of God and His Word.

Youth Directors Requirements:

  • Demonstrates evident commitment in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in theology, biblical studies or youth ministry, or pursuing studies in the field as mentioned above.
  • Previous youth ministry experience.
  • Has a Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of young people.
  • Posses Excellent computer skills and proficiency with social media.
  • Posses Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Affinity for young people.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Available to work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice.
  • Must be willing to be a member of the Southside Bible Fellowship.

Job Overview

We are looking to hire an exemplary Children’s Ministry Director to lead and guide our Children (3 years to grade 6). Under the supervision of the lead pastor, the Children’s Ministry Director will ensure that our children’s ministry purpose is realized by fulfilling the children’s ministry’s main objectives. The person will be responsible for planning and overseeing all our children’s programs and activities. S/he will lead and attend Children’s functions, both at Church and elsewhere, grow relationships with our community, and provide our children and their families with relevant support where necessary.

Main Objectives:

  1. ENSURE that every unsaved Child attending SBF will hear and understand a clear message of salvation.
  2. ENSURE that every saved Child attending SBF understands the gospel and is encouraged to obey the Word of God out of love.
  3. ENCOURAGE every parent/guardian to participate in their children’s spiritual journey by demonstrating God’s love towards them.
  4. PROVIDE training opportunities for our teachers so they can grow in their effectiveness in ministering to children.
  5. UTILIZE a curriculum relevant to children, redemptive in its approach, and practical enough for the teachers to follow and the children to apply.
  6. KNOW our children beyond the classroom level and impact them by modeling Christlikeness.
  7. PRAY for every Child and their parents according to their known needs and concerns.
  8. FAITHFULLY, PRAYERFULLY, and CREATIVELY prepare for every lesson and approach each class with a Christ-like attitude.

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative leadership and direction for the children’s ministry.
  • Develop and direct programs in-line with the Children’s ministry purpose and objectives.
  • Be a willing advocate for children and educate parents about the hopes, concerns, and spiritual needs of children at SBF and our community.
  • Recruit, manage, and train Children’s Ministry volunteers and ensure adequate support and required adult to children ratios.
  • Oversee integrated training processes for all children’s ministry leaders and volunteers.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of children’s ministry for weekend services.
  • Manage, research, and provide curriculum for children that reflects the purpose and objectives of SBF Children’s Ministry.
  • Participate in continuing education, events, and training opportunities.
  • Conduct research of other churches regarding their approach to children’s ministry.
  • Communicate promptly and as effectively as possible using all available resources to ensure communication with church leadership, parents, and the congregation.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with students, staff, parents, and leaders.
  • Be a liaison between SBF Children’s Ministry and other related organizations (AWANA, CEF), people, and resources that benefit the ministry.
  • S/he is available to children in various ways with supervision (i.e., lunch at school, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, etc.)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Degree/Diploma, or other relevant training, or ongoing study in the same field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of leadership background and experience serving with children, Preferred.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills; articulate verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications will be an added advantage.
  • Works well with others and within a team.
  • Creative and innovative.
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement, and execute lessons and programs for SBF children.
  • Create, manage, monitor, and maintain the Children’s Ministry budget.
  • Comfortable working independently without constant supervision

The primary purpose for our Nursery Ministry (ages 3 months to 4 years) is to OFFER and PROVIDE for the emotional, physical, and social needs of young children during the time they are in the church nursery, so their parents can be free to participate in other areas of ministries such as worship service, Bible study, Sunday School, etc.

Job Overview

We are looking to hire 2 part-time Nursery Attendants to staff our Nursery Ministry. Under the lead pastor’s supervision and the Children’s Director, the Nursery Attendants will ensure that our young children are cared for in a safe and healthy environment. They will maintain timely communication with the parents concerning their children’s needs while on the Church’s premises.

Intended Outcome: As a result of the Nursery Attendants, parents of young children will be free to participate in other ministries in peace, knowing that their children are in safe hands.

 Main Objectives… 

  1. To have at least 2 Nursery Attendants every Sunday and other special occasions as needed.
  2. To provide much-needed attention to young children in a child-friendly atmosphere.
  3. To release the parents of young children so they can participate in other ministries.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Prepare and maintain a warm, safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing.
  • Establish and maintain good communication and be sensitive and responsive to parents.
  • Read, understand, and follow required policies.
  • Be familiar with our pager system and any other procedures.
  • Be on-site in the Nursery for the entire scheduled time.
  • In the event of unplanned absence from the scheduled time, notify the Children’s Ministry Director ASAP. For planed absence please inform the Children’s Ministry Director possibly, by the Wednesday before a Sunday absence at the latest.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Background experience in childcare or early childhood development.
  2. Must be a nurturing, caring, patient caregiver who enjoys working with young children.
  3. Outgoing personality and ability to work well with children.
  4. Organizational skills helpful.
  5. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  6. Three references from adults not related to the applicant.
